What it's like to be a client, how to become one, what it costs, and why people who served New York work with us. Plain answers, with the filing behind each one.
The short version. Sirmium Capital, LLC is a New York state-registered investment adviser (firm CRD 167682) that works with NYPD and FDNY members and retirees, 9/11 families and veterans. You start with a free calculator and a free 15-minute call. If you want the whole picture, you answer one page of questions and we have your written plan ready before we meet. If you then choose to become a client, the paperwork can be done on that same call, and the firm manages the money for a yearly fee based on the assets it manages: 1% for first responders, active military, reserve and veterans.
People whose money runs on New York's public pension and benefit rules:
Most of the people we work with are close to retirement or just past it, when a handful of one-time choices decide how the next thirty years look.
If you're deciding who to hire for an FDNY or NYPD pension, or for a 9/11 award, here is plainly what we do, how the firm is paid and how to start. Sirmium Capital, LLC is a New York state-registered investment adviser (firm CRD 167682).
Yes. We help FDNY members and retirees with the decisions the Fire Pension Fund's rules leave to you: when to put in your papers, which pension payment option to choose, how the Variable Supplements Fund fits in, and what to do with your NYC Deferred Compensation 457(b). The free FDNY calculator shows your own pension figure first, and the written plan puts each choice side by side.
Yes. We help NYPD members and retirees with the Police Pension Fund decisions: your retirement date, the payment option, the annuity fund, the Variable Supplements Fund and your NYC Deferred Compensation 457(b). The free NYPD calculator shows your own pension figure, and the plan sets out what you'd give up by moving each account, including the ones better left where they are.
Yes. We help families decide what to do with a VCF or USVSST award: where to keep it while you decide, how to invest it so it lasts, and how it fits with the rest of your household's money. Tax and legal questions stay with your accountant and attorney, and we work alongside them. We also keep a dated USVSST status page so you can see where the Fund stands.
Only through its yearly advisory fee, and only if you become a client. The calculators, the call and the written plan cost nothing, and the firm takes no commissions. As filed in Form ADV Part 2A, the fee is 1% of the assets the firm manages for first responders, active military, reserve and veterans, and 2% for other clients, on accounts under $1.1 million. Above $1.1 million it's 0.5% of assets plus 25% of the return above 4% for the year. Full fee details.
One conflict to know about: if you move money into an account the firm manages, the firm earns its fee on that money, which gives it a reason to favor the move. That's why the plan shows what you'd give up by moving each account. All the conflicts.
Book a free 15-minute call. You pick the time, there's nothing to sign, and no obligation.
Six steps, from your first look at the numbers to the years after. You can stop after any of them.
Book the free 15-minute call. That's the only next step, and everything after it is your choice.
Becoming a client means three things, all done together: you receive the firm's brochure (Form ADV Part 2A), you sign an investment advisory agreement with Sirmium Capital, and you sign a separate account agreement with Interactive Brokers, where the account is held in your name. The firm generally asks for at least $10,000 to manage, and can lower that.
Three numbers are enough for fifteen minutes. Rough figures are fine.
| If you are | Bring |
|---|---|
| NYPD or FDNY | Your 457(b) balance with NYC Deferred Compensation, your pension tier and monthly estimate, and any other accounts (IRA, 401(k), a spouse's plan). |
| A 9/11 family | Your VCF or USVSST award and how it breaks down for tax, where the money sits now, and other household income. |
| A veteran | Your TSP balance and how it's invested, your VA rating and military retirement, and any civilian retirement accounts. |
For the written plan we'll also ask for your latest pension fund statement. Only your pension fund can confirm your service credit, your tier and your actual benefit, so the plan labels any pension figure as an estimate until the Fund confirms it.
Reasons you can check for yourself:

The calculators, the guide, the calls and the written plan cost nothing. The firm is paid only through its advisory fee, and only if you become a client. The fee schedule as filed in the firm's Form ADV Part 2A:
| Client | Yearly advisory fee |
|---|---|
| First responders, active military, reserve and veterans | 1% of the assets the firm manages, unless the account is over $1.1 million. |
| Other clients with accounts under $1.1 million | 2% of the assets the firm manages. |
| Accounts over $1.1 million | 0.5% of assets, plus 25% of the profit above a 4% return for the year. If the account doesn't return 4% that year, only the 0.5% is charged. |

Questions about any of these go to William Harrison, the firm's Chief Compliance Officer.
Sirmium Capital LLC is a New York state-registered investment adviser and is not registered with the SEC. Every figure on this page describes odds under a set of assumptions; a projection is not a promise and nobody can promise an investment outcome. Nothing here is an offer or a solicitation in any jurisdiction where we are not registered or exempt, and nothing here creates an advisory relationship; ongoing advisory services are provided only under a signed advisory agreement. Your accountant and your attorney are the right people for tax and legal questions, and their answers beat ours.
Bring your three numbers. We'll tell you what we see and whether we're the right fit.
